Some people think that it’s nice to have an .edu email address for one reason or the other, so here I will tell you how to get one. :-)

and enter your personal details. Your alternate email address will be verified, so be sure to use the correct one. ;-)

Easy as that!

UPDATE: Apparently, the 3 links I had before, don’t work anymore, so here is a new provider:

http://qvius.mail.everyone.net/email/scripts/collectRegistrationInfo.pl - yes, that is not a .edu domain, but the actual domain your email will be on is @qvius.edu – so EDU!

And all this time I thought that only a select few have access to these .edu e-mail addresses. Now I’m not actually going to get one, but if I were more of a snob, I would certainly do that. Just because now I can.

I’m pretty sure this is a scam. the australia email address asks for twenty bucks and although the england one says your account has been verified there’s no email service to use once you login.

Seems like maybe a clever way to build an email list for spamming.

  3. Hi. Well, I’ve registered an australia.edu mail, for testing, and it works fine. They use gmail as the back end and I haven’t received a single mail from them after I registered. :-)

It’s not gonna work. Services with strict protocols will know the email address is just a forward, and not being sent to a university or college domain server. They can weed out alumni email accounts this way that have tno difference in ending as student emails. Besides, you can bet most places are wise to this australia doman by now and it’s been reported as a fake.
