LWP::UserAgent and HTTPS

If you are trying to download a website with LWP::UserAgent in Perl through HTTPS, you might encounter errors like this:
Can't locate object method "new" via package "LWP::Protocol::https::Socket"
The solution to this problem is to install the ssl development libraries, and then install the Crypt::SSLeay Perl module. To do this in Debian or Ubuntu, open a terminal and type in the following:
sudo aptitude install libssl-dev
sudo cpan -i Crypt::SSLeay

This should fix your problem.

Goodbye twitter.com, hello identi.ca

Today, when I logged into my account, I found out that my account was suspended. I wrote to the support staff, but they didn’t reply with anything helpful, so I decided that I didn’t want to battle them. To be honest, I didn’t really use twitter for anything else that publishing when I’ve written a new blog post.

I’ve had an identi.ca account for a while now, so I’ve decided to ignore twitter and only use identi.ca. :-) So if you use identi.ca yourself, you can follow me, I’m bredsaal. :-D
