This is a short guide to installing the zattoo video player on a AMD64 xubuntu. I assume that you have a working i386 chroot, if not, you can look at this guide.

Step 0:

  • Download the debian package for zattoo from http://zattoo.com/en/download/linux

Step 1:

  • sudo chroot /chroot/
  • apt-get install dbus-x11 libgtkglext1 libgtkglext1 libgnomeui-0 libcurl3 gconf2 libxul0d
  • dpkg -i /path/to/zatto.deb
  • ln -s /usr/bin/zattoo_player /usr/bin/zattoo_player32
  • exit
  • sudo ln -s /usr/local/bin/do_dchroot /usr/local/bin/zattoo_player32

Now you can watch TV on your desktop. You need a account thoug, but you can register a new account when the program is started.

Here’s a couple of screenshots:

Zattoo's main window

Above: Zattoo’s main window, showing the danish channel TV2. Of course the video is not looking like that, but I guess I took the screenshot at a bad time.

This is a feature that is quite cool. It speaks for itself I guess. (Click for a bigger picture).
